Visage Imaging is pleased to announce the release of Amira 5.2 for Windows 32 and 64 bit, Mac OS an Linux platforms.

The Amira software engineering team has developed, in continued collaboration with key customers and research partners, a highly efficient, easy-to-use and robust software solution that delivers excellence in multi-dimensional visualization and analysis for Life Science (learn more):

  • New Multi Planar Viewer - The new special purpose sub-application allows for efficient exploration of 3D data sets using three Multi-Planar Reformat (MPR) viewers and one 3D viewer.
  •
  • New Tridelity module for autostereoscopic display - The TRIDELITY multi-view product line ranging from 19” to 57” screens is now supported and provides stunning depth effects for true 3D spatial visualization without the use of dedicated glasses or tracking systems.
  •
  • New file readers and writers - New Olympus file format readers, new reader/writer for SWC format to import/export neuronal morphology data sets, new module to send DICOM images to a remote node.
  •
  • New Display Modules - The new display modules to visualize 2D slices with 3D surface effects make volumetric exploration easier and more flexible even for very large data sets.
  •
  • Improved Filament Editor - The user interface of the Filament Editor has been reorganized to enable faster and more accurate tracing and to provide a more streamlined structural analysis of filament networks.
  •
  • Improved hardware support - The hardware compatibility of several visualization modules, including high-end shaded volume rendering, has been greatly extended and optimized.
  •
  • Improved Documentation – New tutorials and demos designed for Life Science and a faster keyword-searching mechanism allow users to easily expand their application knowledge.
  •
  • Cross-platforms application - Amira 5.2 is available for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit, Mac and Linux platforms, and graphics hardware compatibility has been greatly improved.
